Child Rights Week Awareness Campaigns

& International children’s day celebrations 2022 in Visakhapatnam

 

Don Bosco Navajeevan, Visakhapatnam organized Child Rights’ week campaign in the vulnerable community in Visakhapatnam from 14th, November to 20th, November 2022 with the theme of “Equality and inclusion for every child”.  The child rights week started on 14th, November 2022 with the children’s day celebrations in Beach blossom School at Jalaripet and 75 past and present children participated in celebrations. Fr. Sleevaraj, SDB, the youth director and Mrs. Jhansi, Mahila Police took part in the programme and motivated the children on the importance and purpose of Child rights. From 15th, to 19th, November the campaigns on Child Rights were organized in 7 outreach areas where Navajeevan is present.  During these campaigns total 1,450 children, parents and youth participated and were enlightened on Child Friendly community.   The local Corporators, village elders, school teachers and Navajeevan staff took part in the meetings and released the poster on Child Rights along with the children.  During the community awareness meetings the children performed the cultural shows on child’s active participation.  

 

On 20th, November 2022  Navajeevan celebrated the International Children’s Day and Child Rights week  long celebrations  in St. Mary’s College, Gnanapuram. 350 children from 7 outreach centres took in the celebrations.  In the morning the games competitions were organised for the children. At 12.45p.m the Concluding celebration was started with lighting of the lamp. In the inaugural speech, Fr.Balashowry, the director highlighted the importance of child rights for the children in the vulnerable community.  Fr. Kishore, the vice provincial stressed the point on Don Bosco Navajeevan is meant for the children and ready to make any effort for the well being of children.  Mrs. Divya Bharathi, the sub-inspector of police, Kancharapalem and Mrs. Radha, chair person, Child Welfare Committee also participated and motivated the children on the importance of education.   The chief guest Mr. Narava Prakash Rao, friend of children briefed the children on how UNO promoted the child rights for ensuring the holistic development of the children.   On this occasion a poster was released on child rights and followed by short cultural programme.   The prizes were awarded to the winners in sports’ competitions. We thank Mantris Hotel delicious meals and also acknowledge the friends and well wishers for their encouragement and support.  As conclusion the children and friends of children were invited to create Child Friendly Society with Equity and Inclusion for every child in the society”
